Rose - c'est Paris
Bettina Rheims and Serge Bramly created Rose, C'est Paris, which is both a photographic monograph and a film on DVD. This work of art, which takes two complementary and mutually reinforcing forms, is not easy to define. The two artists evoke the City of Lights in a completely new and original way: it is a surreal Paris, made of confused identities, artistic ghosts, subterranean manipulations, obsessions, fetishistic and indecent desires. Rose, C'est Paris is at once an erotic, fashion, art, metaphysical, social and cultural archaeological work of the French capital.
It is the story of two sisters, referred to only by their initials B and R, and a third protagonist, the city itself. When R returns to her apartment and learns that B has been kidnapped after a strenuous struggle, a kind of black and white detective story unfolds through the streets, cafes, cabarets, abandoned factories, and grand hotels of Paris. The models include Monica Bellucci, Naomi Campbell, and Michelle Yeoh, among others.
